As an Author
My freshman year in college I came to the conclusion in English composition that whatever I might do for the Lord, writing would not be part of that plan. I simply never seemed to write in a way that impressed my professor. Years later, in my first year of PhD work I prepared a paper on Augustine. I marveled at the power of his pen and the impact of his writings from his Confessions to his apologetic works. Like Frodo’s travels I have since been on a quest to learn how better to communicate through the written word. From those days as an insecure freshman the Lord has led me on quite a venture in the realm of literature. I have much yet to learn, but what I write I offer in hopes it will inspire you to a life of radical obedience to Jesus.

Evangelism Handbook
Biblical, Spiritual, Intentional, Missional
In Matthew 5, Jesus calls believers the salt of the earth and light of the world. Indeed, we must reach out to tell others His story of sacrifice and grace so glory is given to God throughout our communities and the entire planet.
Evangelism Handbook is a thorough guide to the daily ministry of sharing Christ. Writer and professor Alvin Reid is particularly concerned about how the Western Church is practicing evangelism—its failure to reach the hardcore unchurched and its trend of losing young people faster than it can win them.
With all of that in mind, Reid organizes his research and experience in effective modern evangelism into four clear and actionable categories: Biblical (with chapters on Jesus, Paul, and evangelism in Acts), Spiritual (the work of the Spirit, the power of prayer and other disciplines), Intentional (leadership, creativity, worship), and Missional (church planting, reaching the unchurched).

Two-thirds of today’s teens are interested in having a meaningful relationship with God, yet less than one-third of them are active in a local church. These statistics indicate that it is time to change how the church does youth ministry, and this compelling book provides an impassioned plea for the church to set higher standards for ministry to teens and their families.

This book is an alarming look at today’s church and how it must reverse its failure to reach an unchurched culture. Alvin L. Reid examines the causes behind the change from America’s Christian identity and the resulting failure of the American church to understand and utilize the New Testament pattern of penetrating an indifferent culture with the gospel.
