Doc,

Good words. I am greatly encouraged by the young men I see in the SBC…may their tribe increase!

However, as an old guy (older than you, Doc), I think I have a bit more of the fight in me! lol We could draw from the study of history many who accomplished much AFTER the age of fifty. So be it. However, that does not mean I feel animosity toward our younger brethren. Not at all. I have a young man, mid-30′s, who is my associate pastor. He’s starting a small group in his neighborhood. I told him….”Git ‘em!”

Alvin thanks for this essay. As a church planter who is still under 40, I’m excited about what God is doing in our part of the kingdom, here in Metro Philly/South Jersey. But it is across the country, as I speak with pastors and laypeople and non-Christians and de-churched Christians.

May God be glorified in our day as we lay the missional and ecclesiastical foundations for our children and their children and as we work and pray for His glory in the world.
