The Asian Century

Tonight Hannah (my 15 year old) and I ran by the dollar store to pick up coin rolls before a meeting at our missions building. I have a conviction that every Christian parent should take or send their child to another country on a mission trip before they finish high school. So, Hannah and I met with a group of students, Dr. Bruce Ashford, and Ed Pruitt to talk about sharing Christ with Buddhists and Muslims in Thailand. This summer I will practice what I preach as Hannah will join me for 3 weeks in Thailand. After the meeting Hannah was ready to get on the plane tonight! I told her this would be her first, but far from her last trip.  She (like her dad) loves to travel. We have lost count of how many flights she has been on, but it is several score at least. Our whole family travels.  But Hannah is most like her Dad in wanting to see the whole world. The 21st century is the Asian century.  If we will reach the world, we had better reach Asia. But the truth is, if we will reach America, and especially our largest cities and major universities, we must learn to communicate the gospel to second and third generation Asians.I have a feeling our time spent building relationships and sharing Christ in Chang Mai may teach us a lot about reaching an increasingly pagan America.  I am glad Hannah is excited.  I am already looking forward to the next trip!  Africa, perhaps?
